  • South Kensington
  • Victoria And Albert Museum

Role Overview

The V&A East Storehouse, a 16,000m2 purpose-built home for over 250,000 objects, 350,000 library books and 1,000 archives and designed by Diller, Scofidio + Renfro with support from Austin-Smith:Lord, will offer an entirely new museum experience and revolutionise access to the V&A collection. A self-guided visitor experience will take visitors into the heart of the store to explore why objects are collected, how they are cared for, conserved and displayed, and will invite visitors to use the collection as a creative sourcebook. Within the Public Network visitors will encounter object displays, large object installations, galleries, creative studios, study centres and overlooks into back of house spaces. Together these spaces will host pop-up displays, workshops, performances and screenings alongside live encounters with the museum's work - from conservation and research to exhibition preparation.

The Curator is required to play a significant strategic role within the Curatorial Team and lead the delivery of the self-guided public experience throughout the V&A East Storehouse. The Curator will also support the development of the overarching vision and content of V&A East public programme, interim projects, research initiatives and acquisitions strategy. The post-holder will report to the V&A East Chief Curator and will line manage the V&A East Storehouse Assistant Curator.
