About The Role : An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Housing to join the Housing Advice and Homelessness Team. We are a team that is continuing to establish and deepen their skills following a restructure of the whole Housing Team.

Our Housing Caseworkers are already busy and we continue to see an increase in the number of people approaching the department for advice and assistance as economic factors make it harder for our customers to access an exceptionally competitive housing market.

We value a collaborative approach and work to build strong relationships with our colleagues, customers and partner agencies. As the Senior Housing Officer you will be key to these discussions.

The Team is Dorset based with the benefit of adopting hybrid working with office hubs across the county.

You will; provide support to the Housing Caseworkers by way of coaching, mentoring and allocation of work.

offer guidance to the staff based within the Housing Options Team.

act as the case officer for complex, sensitive and multi agency managed homeless cases.

authorise decisions made by staff and offers of financial assistance made to to prevent homelessness.

assist in the day to day running of the department by compiling duty rotas and organising coverage for staff absences.

Work with other Housing colleagues such as Housing Solutions to identify housing outcomes for our customers.

You will: have detailed knowledge of homelessness legislation and case law.

have experience of supervising, coaching or managing staff

be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills which can be tailored to your audience

be able to work effectively by prioritising tasks and workloads

be able to keep calm whilst working in a pressured environment

The post holder will be expected to hold a full driving licence

Further Information : This is a full time role at 37 hours per week.

This post requires significant travel. You must have a vehicle (or transport we deem suitable) available for use as needed.
