Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced clinician to join us in a secondment post for 12 months. This would be an ideal opportunity for a clinician with a passion for tissue viability who would like to broaden their knowledge and skills in a supportive and friendly team. The successful candidate will already possess wound care and tissue viability knowledge and understanding.The Tissue Viability Nurse (TVN) sits within the Harm Free Care team in Bedfordshire hospitals. You will be working in a team of 4 TVNs with a cross site lead nurse. This position is based on the Luton site but there will be a requirement of working closely with and supporting the team on both sites.The post holder is expected to work as an autonomous practitioner and effectively co-ordinate and deliver enhanced wound care within the field of tissue viability under the supervision of the Lead Nurse for Tissue ViabilityTo liaise in collaboration with other health professionals a comprehensive tissue viability service for Luton and Dunstable Hospital.Disseminate specialist's skills and knowledge through teaching sessions to patients, carers, nurses and managers, assisting and participating in formal study days when needed.Please speak to your Line Manager before applying for this secondment opportunity and visit your Trust's Secondment Policy.It is anticipated that interviews will take place during the week commencing 30th September 2024. Person Specification Qualifications Essential Current Registered Nurse with the NMC The relevant post registration experience Mentorship or teaching qualification Able to evidence recent and continuing professional development relevant to the department Desirable Tissue viability related qualification or willing to work towards Experience Essential Post registration experience of working in an acute hospital setting Evidence of teaching others Has participated in clinical governance, research and audit Experience of managing challenging situations to a positive outcome Desirable Experience of managing a team and staff performance Personal skills Essential Excellent written and verbal communications skills Can effectively use computers and software such as Word/Excel or the equivalent Ability to prioritise and organise workload Demonstrates the ability to undertake challenging conversations Desirable Knowledge of patient administration systems PAS Other Essential Ability to problem solve, anticipate and forward plan Proven ability to communicate effectively with staff, patients and their carers from a diverse background Can adopt their leadership style to meet the needs of their staff
