We are recruiting a Regional Net Zero Delivery Lead to join NHS England and NHS Improvement’s Greener NHS programme as part of the Performance Directorate. This is an incredibly exciting time to join the Greener NHS programme following the commitment by the NHS in its multiyear plan Delivering a ‘Net Zero’ National Health Service to become the world’s first carbon net zero national health system and appointment of the NHS first Chief Sustainability Officer. This commitment and multiyear plan reflects growing evidence of the health impacts of climate change and air pollution and recognition that it is not enough for the NHS to treat the problems caused by air pollution and climate change - from asthma to heart attacks and strokes - it needs to play a part in tackling them at source. It builds on the NHS existing sustainability commitments in the NHS Long Term Plan. The East of England Regional Greener NHS team work closely with both corporate and regional teams across NHS England and NHS Improvement, with local health systems, Trusts and other stakeholders. We are uniquely placed to look across the health and care system, to better understand and reduce the environmental impacts of health and care, and save thousands of lives and hospitalisations across the country. As Regional Net Zero Delivery Lead the post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service supporting managers and staff across the East of England Region on the delivery of the Net Zero / Greener NHS programme. The post holder will support the Regional Net Zero Programme Lead and the team to ensure that the work stream of programmes are planned and managed effectively and take the lead in assisting in the successful delivery of specific projects within the programme. Key tasks include: - Liaising with stakeholders within the East of England Region to ensure they are supported to be aligned with the NHS ambitions for the Net Zero programme. - Managing the team’s business support function, including progress reporting and reporting risk and issue management. - Developing and implementing a content management system to ensure information is properly managed and best practice is shared across the team, Directorate and the wider NHS organisation. - Taking a lead in the coordination of training and development and recruitment activity across the team. - Monitor the delivery of the Net Zero programme’s objectives across the Region. The post is currently home based and resourced to complete their role virtually until further notice. Going forward minimum attendance of 6 times a year in the office will be required and some travel across the Region.
