Welfare Support Worker

The job itself : Come join our team as a Welfare Support Workers and play a key role in supporting adults in their own homes, completing routine welfare checks to customers who also have a Lifeline unit installed. The Welfare Support Workers visits homes in sheltered housing or housing for older people schemes.

We have various positions available:

  • 1 x 37 hours - Beverley
  • 1 x 37 hours - Goole
  • 1 x 37 hours - Various locations (based in Goole)

This role is community based and tasks include:

  • Visiting customers for welfare checks on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis depending on their needs.
  • Signing up new customers who move onto the housing sites.
  • Liaising with other services such as social services if you feel a customer needs more support.
  • Installing lifeline units into properties.
  • Using your works mobile to check in and out of welfare visits using our specialist app.
  • Completing online forms and searching our online database for customer details.
  • Responding to emergency lifeline activations, examples of emergency responses include providing basic first aid, calling the emergency services, using specialist lifting equipment to help somebody up who has fallen, supporting people in mental health crisis and much more.

Welfare Support Workers cover the whole of the East Riding, and the teams are split into areas.

There may be times you are expected to be flexible to travel to any of the areas however base locations will be discussed at interview.

The service operates between the between the hours of 8:00am and 5:00pm, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

No previous medical experience or training is necessary although you will need a caring attitude and be able to demonstrate you are organised, customer focused and able to work to specific timescale. You will also need excellent communication skills and the desire to learn. Basic IT skills are also required for this role.

Please note the role involves the moving and handling of customers and use of lifting equipment, for which a certain standard of fitness is required

Requirements :

  • Access to a car
  • Be prepared to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service Check.
