If so, we are looking for a Transport Planner to work nights , at our site in Widnes, working on behalf of Tesco. This is an excellent opportunity, with the option to progress within the company and further your career. Pay, benefits and more: We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £30,441 per annum. You will be working a 4 on 4 off night shift pattern 1900- 0700, 20 days holiday (inclusive of bank holidays). You’ll have access to a variety of high street discounts, as well as a cycle to work scheme, a workplace pension, and many other perks. What you’ll do on a typical day: Operational: To allocate drivers to routes and vehicles to ensure the cost-effective deployment of manpower and the achievement of contractual delivery times Ensure all administrative traffic duties are carried out as necessary and to a high level of accuracy and professionalism To liaise with line manager to ensure the effective use of hire vehicles / sub contractors minimising the cost impact to the business To ensure that details of vehicle accidents are escalated to line manager To ensure that defected vehicles are recorded on traffic sheets To ensure that the procedure for damaged deliveries is followed where necessary To achieve weekly and monthly KPIs as set by the business and / or Customer Service Level Agreements, escalating any issues impacting on these to line management To use all IT based systems in the effective delivery of their role including Paragon, Mi-Sharp etc. Communication: Ensures that appropriate communication methods are used to provide information to both internal and external customers as required e.g. debrief of drivers, dealing with customer issues etc. Legislative requirements: To ensure that all traffic planning activity is undertaken in line with legislative requirements e.g. RTR etc To ensure compliance with Company Health & Safety requirements highlighting any concerns to line management Other: To support the management team in the development of other colleagues To demonstrate the Company Values in the undertaking if their role To undertake any other reasonable task as required. To undertake any relevant training events in line with own personal development needs and business requirements What you need to succeed at XPO: CPC* would be desirable Working knowledge of driver hours regulations Good geographical knowledge of the UK Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements Financial Understanding Operational understanding of team roles Excellent IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook) Effective communication skills (verbal and written) Ability to work under pressure and react quickly to customer requirements Effective Customer Service Skills Ability to take a creative approach to problem solving. Previous experience within a transport / logistics organisation Experience of managing conflicting priorities in a fast moving environment
