People Consultant/ People Management Team/ Training and Development /HR Projects/ Recruitment/ CIPD Qualifications/ 6 Month Contract

My nationally operating client requires the skills of a People Consultant to support their Heywood Office’ People Management Team for an initial 6 Month Fixed Term Contract

This role will initially have a high focus on training and development but will also support managers to manage all aspects of day-to-day business operations and recruitment for the Manchester Business Site.

I am keen to speak to HR and People Management Professionals with similar experience within a larger group business. CIPD qualifications are highly advantageous although not essential.

  • Establish, implement, and embed the learning and development strategy for the Business Unit and align with collaboration the activities related to the Great Place to Work Plan
  • Devise, implement and embed relevant operational skills training including apprenticeships, especially working with key stakeholders to ensure mandatory training completion is consistently high
  • To manage and administer learning management platforms and learning data to support group learning and development plans and activities
  • Drive a high-performance culture across the business unit ensuring plans are in place to develop managers and colleagues with high potential and proactively improve and motivate underperforming employees by providing additional training, etc
  • Drive the Performance Management process and guide managers on consistency and approach
  • Drive the People KPI’s through coaching and guidance of people managers.
  • Inspire colleagues and support them to improve in their positions
  • Enable the business to attract and retain talent and support the Great Place to Work people plan.
  • Collaborate with the Talent Acquisition team as required to support the business unit workforce planning strategies
  • Support with selection processes as required, including interviews and the design, and delivery of assessment centres, etc.
  • Assist with the development of job descriptions for newly created positions and updating existing positions
  • Undertake any allocated or ad hoc HR projects assigned by the Head of People
  • Work collaboratively across the other business units by supporting the People team to effectively manage workloads.
  • Work in partnership with people leaders to manage the relationship between People Operations and the business unit by providing practical support where required
  • Suggest ways to improve the colleague experience, through reviewing best practice and developments in people practices.
  • Support managers to manage staff cost and headcount including the management and ownership of the local organisation charts.
  • Be the ambassador. Drive and role model appropriate Behaviours, Competencies and Values and coach managers and colleagues to do the same
  • Provide sound and practical advice and support to managers in dealing with employee relations cases.Work in partnership with managers to bring each case to an appropriate business conclusion working within Company and legal guidelines
  • Coach and advise managers to resolve ER issues effectively and build their team members capability. Conduct root cause analysis where required to proactively resolve these situations
  • Maintain up to date employment law knowledge in line with UK legislation
  • Drive change through coaching managers, role modelling and creating a positive climate throughout the change journey
  • Manage local talent plans and succession planning and support managers to define and deliver outcomes
  • Support managers to define and deliver local business wide T&D plans
  • Help drive a culture of continuous learning and development across the business unit and support requests for development as appropriate
  • Work with the central people teams to co-ordinate site activity

Requirements :

  • Previous People Management and HR experience in a similar position
  • Experience of developing and delivering training across a multi-site environment
  • Able to successfully demonstrate evidence of business knowledge and commercial awareness in a multi-site field-based HR advisory and business partner role
  • Able to successfully demonstrate evidence of working with complex employment relations issues
  • Able to successfully demonstrate evidence of managing large scale restructure projects
  • Working knowledge of TUPE legislation and experience of managing acquisition integrations
  • CIPD Level 5 is highly advantageous
  • Evidence of being able to take the lead on pay and T&Cs negotiations and consultations and manage relationships with trade unions where necessary.
  • Excellent coaching skills, with the ability to give and receive feedback
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability of relay complex data or messages, simply and concisely both in written and verbal formats
