We are looking for a Human Factors Interface (HFI) Specialist based in Christchurch, Dorset on a five year contract - reviewed annually On Offer:- Competitive hourly pay rate - Hybrid Working - 3 days in the office, 2 days from home- IR35 Determination - Highly likely to be inside- Long term contract - potentially 5 years Role Description As a Human Factors Specialist supporting the programme, you will report to the Lead HFI Specialist and assist them in delivering User-Centred Design activities. This could include: assessing Commercial-Off-The-Shelf equipment against system requirements / user needs; engaging with users to understand their goals and tasks; conducting detailed analyses to understand cognitive workload and human error; anthropometric assessment and workspace/workstation design; working with other engineering functions and disciplines to support their tasks. Key activities • Support Vigilant lead HFI specialist in the conduct of human factors activities and integration of HF into the design• Work with end user groups and HF stakeholders in workshops, trials and User-Centred Design activities• Conduct analyses such as persona development, task analysis and usability assessment• Assess prototypes/mock-ups of hardware and software solutions• Produce reports and input to customer deliverables. Skills required As a minimum, this role requires you to have:• A recognised degree or equivalent qualification in Human Factors, Ergonomics or Psychology• Registered membership of the Chartered Institute of Human Factors (or eligibility for CIEHF Chartership via an equivalent body)• At least five years’ experience of applying Human Factors methods in defence or safety-critical industry• Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team on complex system integration and development projects NB - To be considered for this position you must have the right to live and work in the UK and be able to obtain SC Clearance.
