Summary :

  • The job holder provides direct support to the Combined Cadet Force (RAF) sections in schools throughout the South West, enabling the RAF Air Cadet (RAFAC) experience and line manages a team of five RAF senior non-commissioned officers. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and motivated individual to become part of an expanding organisation, supporting the Government's Cadet Expansion Programme in schools and helping to bring the school and community cadets of the RAF Air Cadets closer together. The role will require the individual to effectively communicate current policy and procedures and demonstrate the core values of the Civil Service and the RAF/RAFAC. The successful incumbent will be part of a modern, dynamic, air-minded youth organisation that offers exciting and challenging opportunities to young people and adult volunteers alike, helping to develop citizens with valuable skills for the future.

  • This position is advertised at 37 hours per week. Job description :

  • Providing guidance to CCF (RAF) sections.

  • Conducting a visit to all CCF (RAF) sections at least once annually.

  • Assurance of CCF(RAF) section activities.

  • Assist with selection, training and induction of new cadet force adult volunteers.

  • Establish a strong working relationship with Air Cadet Liaison Officers (ACLOs) on RAF stations and with Wing Executive Officers of the RAF Air Cadets.

  • Liaising with Army Regional Command as lead command for CCF contingents and with HQ RAFAC staff on matters of policy.

  • Liaising with external stakeholders in the community.

  • Working with school heads and contingent commanders to deal with any safeguarding matters conscientiously and with urgency.

  • Coordination and submission of reports, covering section staffing, training and other activities.

  • Assist with the delivery of biennial reviews of school contingents, supporting Reviewing Officers as required. Responsibilities :

  • Acting as line manager for the SW Region TEST sergeants, including ongoing development, welfare, support and appraisal writing. Act as authorising officer for leave, travel and subsistence.

  • Responsible for safe operation of MOD vehicle assigned to the job holder, for which a current, full driving licence will be required. Responsible for appropriate use of MOD-issued IT and communications equipment.

  • Health and Safety responsibilities under the terms of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974

  • Upholding the Civil Service and RAF Air Cadets' commitment to their diversity and inclusion responsibilities.

  • Oversight of use and management of any CCF (RAF) cadet training centres or equipment in SW Region.

  • Some evening and weekend working will be required.
