With their focus on quality, professionalism and accessibility, they provide tailored legal solutions and trusted advice that exceeds expectations and delivers positive outcomes for their valued clients. The Insolvency Team is currently led by a highly experienced and well connected Partner with one junior fee earner and is expanding owing to increased client demand, and as part of the wider ambition of the firm to grow the practice further. The team supports Insolvency Practitioners, distressed businesses and their creditors, providing support on matters such as: Administrations Administrative receiverships Company voluntary arrangements Directors’ disqualification Liquidations Insolvency litigation As the team grows, there is considerable scope for progression to senior level and a potential future leadership role in time for someone with the right blend of technical skills, personal motivation and commercial awareness.  About the role Working with the Partner, you will be allocated an established caseload of insolvency and restructuring matters of varying size and complexity from the outset. Your primary focus will be to provide exceptional client service, appreciating the commercial context and (for some clients) personal implications of their current circumstances by offering considered and commercially relevant to support them prior to and during insolvency proceedings. You will be aware of the importance of adjusting your style and tone with individual clients depending upon whether they are an Insolvency Practitioner, a distressed business or a creditor. In addition to developing (or expanding) your existing referrer networks in the region to secure new client instructions, you will be actively collaborating and sharing information with the Corporate & Commercial teams within the firm, to ensure that they are kept fully informed about matters affecting their established clients. Similarly, you will connect with colleagues across the Dispute Resolution teams in order to share knowledge, role modelling effective and empathetic client management skills. The Insolvency team will be growing in the coming years, and you will be pivotal in supporting the development of the team, along with collaboration with other teams in order to provide seamless and exemplary client service.  The firm prides itself on its ‘home-grown’ lawyers and ability to attract, develop and retain top talent, so you can be expect to be well supported and encouraged by colleagues and partners across the firm. You’ll be encouraged to engage in business development activities, promoting your own profile with referrer contacts in the region along with that of the firm. As part of an actively collaborative culture, you will benefit from client introductions from colleagues, and reciprocate where you can whilst promoting the best interests of your clients. Depending upon your preference, you will be based from offices in Exeter, Torquay or Plymouth with hybrid working.  About you Having gained experience as an Insolvency Lawyer in a UK law firm, you will be accustomed to handling a varied caseload of good quality insolvency matters with limited supervision, and with increasing independence over time. You will be working closely with a trusted and valued client which generates a high proportion of bankruptcy related work which you will work on with support from the Partner as needed. Likely to already be an Associate or Senior Associate, you will have benefited from good quality training and post qualifying experience in contentious matters, with strong client care skills and an ability to listen and empathise with clients as needed. You are technically skilled and may already feel confident in handling increasingly complex matters, listening to your clients and providing clear, commercially appropriate and relevant advice every time. You will understand how to generate new business opportunities for your team and the wider firm, promoting your profile and building up referrer networks. You will be keen to build out your network with Insolvency Practitioners across the region, and contribute towards broader business development activities in agreement with the Partner.  An active and enthusiastic team member, you will work positively with the Corporate Team to support their clients as and when restructuring and insolvency support is needed. You are likely to have gained some experience of managing team members, allocating work and providing quality supervision in your current or previous role, being a strong communicator with a positive approach to developing individuals in their technical skills and confidence. Equally, you have a positive approach to working collaboratively with other fee earner teams and support colleagues to promote cross-referrals and delivery of exemplary client care. You consider yourself to be a resilient and collegiate lawyer who enjoys delivering exceptional client service and encourage your team to do the same. You have developed a passion for working with a wide range of clients, providing appropriate, insightful and commercially relevant advice to meet with their specific needs and interests. You focus on keeping up to date with the latest legal developments affecting insolvency and work proactively to consider potential impact on your clients.  You are readily able to demonstrate your strong analytical and communication skills and work strategically with clients and as part of a team. Being resilient to work under pressure by organising yourself effectively, you will be able to meet deadlines as needed.
