Job summary Have you got a special interest in training but also enjoy your clinical work as a Sonographer, if so then this may be the role for you.The vacancy will combine a Sonographer role ( WTE) with that of a Radiology Clinical Practice Educator (RCPE)( WTE), to manage, develop and co-ordinate the training of undergraduate and postgraduate students within the relevant modality. The post holder will coordinate and facilitate the education and clinical practice of students in the practice setting. It will be expected the RCPE will work within the scope of the four pillars of practice demonstrating expert clinical practice, leadership and management skills, knowledge and delivery of education and participate in research and development Main duties of the job The post holder will have the managerial responsibility and day to day leadership for: Undergraduate studentsPostgraduate studentsApprenticeshipsWork experience studentsElective students The post will be required to: work alongside the Team Managers and the Modality Leads to support in recruitment, induction and preceptorship for newly qualified Radiographers and international recruits to ensure theybe the key contact with the Higher Education Institutes.work in clinical areas with staff to act as a coach, mentor, assessor, and role model and will have significant clinical and leadership responsibilities, acting as an expert in their area of clinical expertise and act as a point of contact in a multi-disciplinary teamwork alongside the senior leadership team and finance team in business planning for the future workforce and managing the apprenticeship degree programme in the department, demonstrating a good understanding of business and finance in the planning of all aspects of education and training in radiologybe accountable for the training within the Radiology department and will contribute to development of policies and guidelines with the department The post holder will also work as a sonographer within the department, providing a range of examinations in gen med, gynae, obstetrics and MSK where applicable. Person Specification Qulaifications Essential BSc Hons Degree in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent Professional Registration with HCPC Post Graduate Diploma in relevant discipline Desirable Managerial/Teaching qualification and/or equivalent experience Knowledge Essential Specialist knowledge across a range of procedures and experience to plan, prioritise and lead the relevant diagnostic imaging training. National Guidance related to the education and training, specifically relating to radiology and the SoR Education and Career Framework Highly developed specialist knowledge to both develop and interpret the broad range of policies and put these into practice across all areas of relevant diagnostic area. Desirable Ability to manage change Knowledge and understanding of underpinning principles of training and developing Radiology Workforce Experience Essential Extensive experience in both delivering and managing a broad range of diagnostic examinations relevant to the post. Experience of teaching, developing, and delivering and assessing training activities Experience of leading and motivating a team and/or service Experience of coaching, mentoring, and assessing Desirable Developing and overseeing preceptorship programmes of newly qualified Radiographers.
