Job summary We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated person to join our Medical Engineering Department due to the resignation of one of our technicians. We are a small friendly Department comprising of 5 technicians, 1 equipment Pool technician and a technical administrator. We are accredited to ISO 9001 Quality Management System. The successful applicant will be involved with the repair, maintenance and calibration of a wide range of medical devices within the Hospital and at external sites including community services and GP Surgeries. A Full UK Driving Licence is a requirement of this post as there will be some travelling to external sites. Applicants should be educated to HNC level (Degree preferable) in a relevant engineering discipline with relevant post qualification experience in Clinical Engineering. Main duties of the job To carry out scheduled preventative maintenance, servicing, repair, calibration, safety and acceptance testing on a wide range of medical equipment. The post holder is required to work to high standards of safety and accountability. To liaise with clinical and technical staff to identify faults and repair equipment, including working in clinical areas and with manufacturers. To follow management procedures as part of the ISO9001:2015 Quality Management System. To provide supervision to Apprentice Medical Engineering Technicians within the team. Person Specification Qualifications Essential Provide evidence of Degree in Medical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering or acceptable equivalent level of knowledge such as BTEC HNC/HND. Desirable Registered Clinical Technologist Good secondary level of education, any nationally approved basic training. Knowledge Essential General knowledge of electronic workshop practice and computer systems. Advanced knowledge of electrical and electronic engineering Desirable Knowledge of equipment databases Specialised knowledge of medical electronics, electro-mechanical systems, computing and medical device support. Broad knowledge of medical device operation and management. Experience in applying workshop technology to patient critical equipment and techniques in healthcare Experience Essential Several years' experience within electronic maintenance environment Desirable Experience in applying workshop technology to patient critical equipment and techniques in healthcare Extensive practical experience in electro medical engineering workshop practices and techniques in healthcare Extensive practical experience in electro medical engineering workshop practices and techniques for at least 2 years to include preventive maintenance, servicing, inspection, repair, calibration, quality control, safety, acceptance testing and procurement. Manufacturers training courses on a range of medical devices Skills Essential Must be able to use excel, word etc. to set up documents and spreadsheets and extract information.
