We are looking for a Payroll Specialist who will assist to facilitate the smooth running of the payroll department, contributing and supporting the ongoing development of the payroll function of the group.

What you'll do..

  • Process, checking and monitoring all salary/wage payments.
  • Ensuring that all staff are paid on time with responsibility to process payment through the bank including payments due to HMRC for PAYE and other deductions processed through the payroll function.
  • Assist with managing Sage payroll software and keeping it up to date with upgrades to ensure compliance with the latest legislation.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant payroll legislation and any employment legislation as communicated by the HR department that is relevant.
  • Reconciliation of all payroll control accounts.
  • Deal with correspondence and enquires from HMRC, DWP and any other external payroll matters.
  • Ensuring staff holidays and sickness are dealt with correctly through payroll and liaising with HR department to ensure correct records are maintained.
  • Be responsible for ensuring that pension contribution are paid over to the pension scheme as due and all reporting to the pension scheme processed.

Who you’ll be..

  • Have previous experience of working within a payroll role and will have experience of working within a high volume environment.
  • Have good oral and written communication skills, self-motivation, commercial awareness, initiative and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Be able to manage their own work load to ensure all work is completed and deadlines are met.
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical, technical, IT and numerical abilities are crucial.
  • Ideally will have a payroll qualification
  • Ideally have experience using Sage Payroll.
