About us Rondel House provides a Day Service for older people who live in the Central & Eastern areas of The Vale of Glamorgan, who may suffer from age related frailty, chronic illness, disability and/or dementia. We currently run a 5-day service, Monday to Friday, and provide a safe environment where people can interact and have fun through a range of activities. Our aim is to keep people as independent as possible but also to provide social stimulation and prevent loneliness. By coming in to a Day Service it allows carers to some time away from their caring duties and gives them some respite.

We have a range of facilities on site including a fully accessible environment; main day room for socialising; a quiet TV lounge; assisted bathroom; interactive technology and craft equipment.

At Rondel House we provide a lunchtime meal to ensure good nutrition. Our experienced staff team are able to help with personal care and we have specialist disability equipment available on site.

About the role Pay Details: Scale 6, £27334 - £29,777 pro rata

Hours of Work / Working Pattern: 37.5hrs per week, Monday to Friday Main Place of Work: Rondel House Day Service, Barry

Description : We are looking for a dynamic Senior Day Care Officer to come in and help with the delivery of our services at Rondel House. You will oversee all aspects of the care and support given to clients attending the Centre under the guidance of the Resource Centre Manager. You will be a strong team player who will want to help maintain our client’s independence and develop a service that offers choice and variety. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team you will help implement all aspects of a Day Care service including staff supervision; meals service; health & safety as well as client welfare.

About you You will need:

  • Experience of working with older people and people with disabilities
  • Experience of working with people with Dementia
  • Experience of supervising in a team environment
  • Good awareness of the needs of older people and people with disabilities
  • Good listening and communication skills
  • Ability to interact positively with others at all levels
  • To be reliable and have a flexible approach
  • A commitment to improving services
  • Ability to drive/travel throughout the Vale or between locations as appropriate
