Our client is a leading supplier of technical parts to the various industries including oil, gas, power, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, food & beverage, water & gas utilities, marine and nuclear. They are recruiting for a QA/Technical Assistant to assist Group Management with the day-to-day involvement in Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) processes. Their standard scope of supply involves the supply of a wide range of materials / components in accordance with ASTM/ASME material standards / BSEN standards and client-specific standards.

Reporting to the Group QA Manager and the Group QMS Manager, the QA / Technical Assistant will be employed within the Quality Management System Department and the role will include the following activities:

  • Visual and dimensional checking of pipes, fittings and flanges, checking, approval and processing of material test certification.
  • Providing technical clarifications to both personnel, suppliers and clients
  • Review of technical data / specifications
  • Reviewing of Material Certification against project, client, and international standards
  • Liaise with test houses to ensure required tests are carried out and evaluated
  • Involvement in client inspections
  • Liaising with companies such as Inspection agencies, NDT service suppliers etc.
  • Completing and reporting of internal test activities i.e., PMI, hardness tests

Skills / Competency : Essential:

  • Good overall IT skills (some of the activities will involve the use of a company specific software system in which training will be provided.)
  • Qualification in an engineering discipline i.e., Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, Quality
  • Experience of QA / QC - Engineering activities
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Able to work in a team as well as independently
  • Versatile and willing to learn

Car owner required due to location of company. This is a permanent role offering a starting salary of £26-30k, dependent on experience. Hours are 9am-5pm Monday to Friday with a flexible one-hour lunch.

An amount of overtime working may be required and possible travel to suppliers / clients as directed and agreed with the Group QA Manager and the Group QMS Manager.
