We are now recruiting for a Principal Medical Writer.


The role


As a Principal Medical Writer, you will develop scientific expertise across therapeutic areas, working in partnership with our Client Services and Creative teams. You will provide high-level medical writing support across these accounts alongside mentoring members of the medical writing team.


Core duties and responsibilities


  • Maintain a high quality of medical writing with excellent briefing and reviewing skills
  • Assist with the promotion of quality control processes and procedures
  • Develop an understanding of new therapeutic areas quickly and comprehensively
  • Build an understanding of client and competitor products, therapy areas, portfolio, and clinical and commercial strategy in the context of the current market
  • Keep up-to-date with industry codes of practice/legislation
  • Act as the Technical Lead on designated client projects
  • Plan your workload and contribute to resourcing for your team
  • Work collaboratively with account team members to ensure that all account objectives are met
  • Build relationships with clients and/or external experts
  • Identify opportunities to maximise existing client accounts
  • Assist with the development of proposals and present at pitches when appropriate
  • When appropriate, contribute to development of project specifications, cost estimates, and reconciliations
  • Monitor project costs against agreed budgets and notify the Client Services team of any changes to the specification at the earliest opportunity


The person


  • Proven medical writing experience within a healthcare communications agency, with knowledge of a broad range of communications activities
  • The ability to tailor your writing style appropriately for different target audiences
  • Life science degree educated, ideally with a higher qualification MSc or PhD
  • In-depth working knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry
  • Strong organisational, time management, and people skills
