Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday) Location: Thorne based but with required travel to other sites within the business

Autism Plus have an exciting opportunity for a Positive Behaviour Support Partner to join our team. The role will involve leading on the day to day delivery of Positive Behaviour Support within the service, including the creation, continuous development and implementation of Positive Behavioural Support Plans. This will be supported through regular assessment and observations of the people we support.

Key Responsibilities

  • The timely construction of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Plans.
  • Review and adaptation of PBS plans in response to level of need and best practice.
  • Gathering information from a range of sources; direct observation, written, verbal and through supportive questioning of the person and support staff.
  • Liaison with staff teams across the patch to aid with broader behavioural support needs.
  • Support Team Managers to implement PBS plans.
  • Work in collaboration with Health and social care professionals involved in the care and support of our individuals.
  • Support teams to create their own specific aids for the people we care for such as social stories, augmentative communication aids and sensory support.
  • Participate in promoting a team approach at all times.
  • Be polite, courteous and supportive to all team members.
  • Be flexible in accordance with the needs of the business in relation to working hours.
  • Be available to cover leave (sickness, annual, etc).
  • Assist in the induction of new staff.
  • Work in accordance with training and agreed policies, practices and procedures.
  • Participate in and contribute to staff meetings.
  • Support colleagues in difficult or potentially difficult situations within the workplace.
  • Ensure issues of concern are elevated to a more knowledgeable member of staff if the situation requires specific expertise.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Approved PBS Training accredited by the Association for Psychological Therapies (APT).
  • Appropriate equivalent training such as Graduate in Psychology or other Behavioural science equivalent.

Essential Skills/Experience

  • Experience of working with individuals with behavioural support needs, Autism Spectrum Disorder/Neurodiversity and Learning Disabilities.
  • A Person-centred approach to individuals and all aspects of work.
  • Ability to utilise evidence of work to support direction of behavioural support to staff members.
  • Able to manage a caseload in line with PBS best practice in discussion with the team lead.
  • Ability to take a team approach and feedback to the broader Clinical Team.
  • Ability to ‘think outside of the box’.
  • Driver with own vehicle and able to commute across the region of Yorkshire and North Nottinghamshire areas.
  • Clean driving licence
  • Ability to work electronically using a laptop utilising electronic recording and documentation systems.
  • Warm and adaptable approach.
