Would you like to be part of a small, friendly, and dynamic team which uses its specialist knowledge of the High Weald National Landscape to make a positive impact? Growing fallow deer population are having a significant impact on the rare wildlife of the High Weald’s ancient woods, hedges, and meadows and preventing tree establishment to mitigate the impacts of climate change. Farmer’s crops are also being damaged and road accidents involving deer are increasing. The National Landscape team's work has a wide scope, which allows for exploration of innovative and diverse approaches to developing best practices and driving effective action. We are seeking a Deer Management Co-ordinator that will build on our nationally recognised work to implement a collaborative, landscape-scale approach to deer management working with the area’s landowners, farmers and stalkers and the wider community. You will be responsible for providing specialist advice, sharing best practice, gathering data, running events, helping people work together and developing and implementing projects that enable deer management. The High Weald National Landscape is renowned for its historical significance and natural beauty. Spanning 1,461 square kilometres, it is the largest national landscape in the South-East and the fourth largest in England and Wales. We are looking for candidates with an understanding of wildlife ecology, experience of deer management and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
