Job summary We have two roles available 1 x 30 hours per week and1 x 22 hours per week. Hours may be negotiable. We are looking to appoint competent, enthusiastic, sociable individuals with excellent people skills to work on the new Mobile Chemotherapy Unit.This is a unique opportunity to work with a team who will transform how chemotherapy treatments are delivered to patients. You will be the driver, meeter and greeter and ensure the Mobile Chemotherapy Unit is prepared in a timely manner.Airedale NHS Foundation is committed to providing the highest standards quality care to its local population. The Mobile Chemotherapy Unit (MCU) is a new service which has been developed in conjunction with the charity Hope for Tomorrow.This is an exciting role which is suitable for a qualified driver who holds a LGV class 2 licence and has excellent communication skills and a friendly attitude. You will be able to combine your driving skills with an opportunity to improve the lives of patients with cancer. Main duties of the job You will be the meeter and greeter. You will be an integral part of the team, setting up and preparing the unit to deliver the service and close down and secure the unit at end of treatment day. You will also help to provide administrative support to chemotherapy nurses and patients, assist in patient care and other related duties as directed by a Registered Nurse.We are committed to staff development. You will receive training and develop both professionally and personally.The unit will be operational 5 days per week, travelling to locations in North and West Yorkshire and East Lancashire. Post-holders are required to work within relevant Trust Policy and in accordance with the department's quality standard requirements. To prepare the unit for service and close the unit down each To undertake vehicle maintenance and safety checks as To maintain the vehicle in a clean, safe and presentable To greet patients and complete administration To carry out support work as directed by the Registered Nurse and maintain records as To carry out daily risk assessments on external sites before parking and setting up the To use vehicle and equipment safely and effectively and report any defects To carry out all tasks in compliance with department policies and To carry out all duties in a safe manner, using only the equipment provided along with the To communicate with patients and work colleagues throughout the process of delivering the To assist in emergency situation under the direction of the Registered To assist in supporting new staff during To ensure that all Infection Control procedures and related policies are strictly observed at all To ensure the safeguarding of keys provided whilst on duty and to ensure that vehicles/areas/roomsare locked before coming off To respect at all times the patients wellbeing and privacy and their legal right to To carry out all duties as instructed in line with the requirements of the operational procedures in order to provide a quality service and satisfy the customers To undertake any other associated duties as part of the Mobile Chemotherapy Unity to support delivery of the service as To transport patients to the hospital in the support car if required after fitness assessment of patient by a registered nurse19. Person Specification Experience Essential Significant driving experience Experience of working with general public LGV Class 2 Desirable Customer experience in NHS or other establishment Qualifications Essential Must be able to read and write in English and have sound knowledge of numeracy Must have clean driving licence Desirable Health and safety, manual handling, infection prevention courses Other Essential Must hold LGV Class 2 licence Knowledge Essential Sound knowledge of driving regulations and basic vehicle maintenance Knowledge of vehicle preparation and security Desirable Knowledge of Health and safety, manual handling, infection prevention in relation to driving and linen services Skills Essential Competent driving skills of large commercial type vehicles Very strong communication skills Well organised and systematic in method Desirable Competent skills in use of machinery
