SECONDMENT OPPORTUNITY - 12 MONTHS

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 4 Medical Secretary to join the Medicine Clinical Service Group to support the Diabetes service soon to be based at the Long Term Condition's Hub, Gwaun Elai Business Park (located next to the Royal Glamorgan Hospital).

The main purpose of the role will be to provide secretarial support to the Diabetes department which will consist of transcribing medical correspondence, processing referrals, mail and filing duties, tracking patient notes, managing patient pathways and handling day to day queries from patients, relatives, carers, and health professionals.

The principal accountabilities of this post are :

  • Plan own day to day tasks and duties.
  • Undertake routine typing and audio typing of clinical correspondence.
  • Manage Consultant’s diaries.
  • Prioritise results, organise clinical activity and patient admissions.
  • Liaise with patients, General Practitioners and other Health Boards/Trusts to arrange ongoing treatment and care.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
