Your new company Founded more than 45 years ago, this established and experienced Building Services Contractor are specialists in delivering Mechanical, Electrical, Ventilation and Air Conditioning solutions across the UK and Ireland. This company are currently seeking a MechanicalDesign Manager to head up their design team based at their head office in Belfast. Your new role You will be a key member within this multi-disciplinary and versatile team. Your skills will be instrumental in delivering high quality Mechanical Design and Project Management. You will have a desire to challenge existing design norms, working closely withclients and partners to drive energy efficient and sustainable design for highly technical schemes within the commercial, education, health, industrial, public building, retail, scientific, sport and leisure sectors. Most of their projects are with repeatclients due to reputation and long-standing relationships. As the Mechanical Design Manager, responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the mechanical design process associated with design and build projects including liaising with members of the design team, manufacturers and specialist sub-contractors
  • Analysis of clients brief and preparation of design calculations, design drawings and technical submittals
  • Liaising with architects, structural engineers and co-ordination engineers to ensure design proposals are feasible
  • Producing technical calculations, drawings and submittals in compliance with current regulations

What you'll need to succeed

  • A recognised qualification in Mechanical Engineering/Building Services
  • Ability to carry out due diligence of designs, prepare and develop early stage designs and calculation to help build systems for costs plans.
  • Manage, review and influence 3rd party designers in the development of the project.
  • Assist and advise on technical details through the project and post contract troubleshooting.
  • Encourage, help and assist with internal training within the company and professional developments of others.
  • A minimum of 4 years' experience of mechanical design on medium to large MEP building services projects, gained either with an MEP contractor or a design consultancy.
