About the job: In the role you will: Follow drawings, manufacturer’s instructions and customer specifications, utilising knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical machinery. Will usually be the sole FMS engineer on-site. Operate equipment/machinery through installation and commissioning to ensure that performance, quality and rate of running meet specifications. Train customer personnel on maintaining, adjusting and repairing equipment/machinery. Repair worn or defective equipment/machinery. Fault-find and diagnose equipment set-up and process issues; undertake troubleshooting on customer sites and internally. Work on equipment/machinery refurbishments, re-tools and refits where necessary. Document all inspections, maintenance and repair work, plus fault finding and diagnostics. Gather market intelligence and identify opportunities for promoting additional services/spare part sales etc. when working at customer sites. Maintain tools and test equipment in good condition; organise self in line with lean manufacturing principles, 5S standards etc. About you: NVQ Level 3, HNC or HND in Electrical Engineering or equivalent. Relevant technical or engineering qualification in mechanical engineering is required, or relevant experience. Knowledge of multi-axis machine tools is essential, with preference given to 5-axis machining centres. Experienced in PLC and CNC controls (Siemens, Fanuc etc.) Understanding of Field Bus Profinet, Profibus. Car driver with a full driving licence. Willing and able to travel regularly within the UK; occasional travel abroad may be required. Flexible in working time; there will be a requirement to work extended hours and/or shifts patterns etc. according to customer needs. A knowledge of grinding processes is highly desirable. Good customer service skills with expertise in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and solving complex machining / grinding related problems. Able to work effectively under pressure either alone or as part of a team. Able to a situation and resolve most questions and problems, referring only the more complex issues to higher levels.
