On the back of our PPP success, we are now growing our KDP5 Framework team in both Cumbria and Gateshead, delivering another crucial, major project at Sellafield. We’re actively looking for an experienced and dedicated Construction Engineer to lead all lifting operations for the company as the projects Lifting Technical Authority .


You’ll lead lifting operations for the company as the project Lifting Technical Authority, overseeing all project lifting activities to ensure they are executed in a safe and compliant manner. You’ll apply good governance in accordance with the companies’ safety, quality and site procedures, thereby meeting legislative, contract and Altrad Babcock requirements.

Role & Responsibility


  1. Direct & Manage : Direct and manage all Lifting construction management aspects of construction sub-contractors within area of product or project, defining specifications and standards and documentation to complete construction lifting activities. Assist in the preparation of execution plans for all construction lifting activities in accordance with procedures and the client’s requirements.
  2. Lead & Optimise : Lead and optimise the construction Lifting activities including the interface with design and engineering teams, to help ensure compliance with standards and legal requirements. Apply governance across project lifting operations to ensure consistency of application. Initiate audit and review of construction activities and site activities to ensure compliance with specification, schedule and legal obligations.
  3. Develop & Control : Develop the company’s lifting capability from the nominated resources to successfully execute the project in all construction lifting aspects. Review through audit the various locations lifting operations safety procedures e.g. lift plans, risk assessments, method statements, critical task, permit to work, Improvement Observation process etc.
  4. Compliance:
  • To ensure that all construction critical task and normal lifting operations are carried out in a safe manner free of risk to all.
  • To ensure that all construction lifting teams’ sub-contractors are aligned to the company’s procedures aligned to satisfying legislative directives.
  • To ensure the management of construction lifting operations and subcontractors fulfil the technical requirements for the works carried out.
  • To ensure that all relevant lifting information regarding site activities is fed to the site management team and subcontractors, including corrective actions to fulfil contractual requirements.
  • To effectively communicate both orally and in writing to colleagues, management and the clients.
  • To assist in the resolution of technical queries, as project technical authority, and the development of construction engineering solutions.
  • To develop and implement good governance throughout the operational teams and develop audit processes to ensure compliance of the same.
  • Develop succession plans for each location to ensure continuity of operations aligned to the companies lifting procedures.
  • Promote good communication across the disciplines exchanging good practices, innovations and lessons learned.


Job Requirements (Essential)


  • CPCS Appointed Person (Blue Card)
  • ONC or HNC/D in Engineering Discipline
  • Professional Member of Institution
  • Construction Operations or Project Management experience and Subcontract Package Management experience
  • 5 years’ experience within Construction Operations
