Job Description

We are looking for a talented Lead Cloud FinOps Analyst to successfully deliver a set of ambitious technology plans as part of the Group Technology Department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading detailed data analysis of Cloud consumption across all venues and Cloud hosted technologies, identifying consumption trends and optimisation opportunities, creating customer reporting for internal stakeholders in support of the Cloud FinOps service.

What you'll be doing:

  • Leading the FinOps Cloud for the Group by perform daily data analysis of our Cloud consumption across all Cloud venues. Providing customised reporting and dashboards to internal stakeholders to provide a view on actual costs vs budget and the drivers of the spend and peaks in usage.
  • Within the Cloud FinOps team, leading the identification of Cost Optimisation Opportunities and communicate these to the business and technical owners. Including but not limited to Rightsizing, Reservations, Savings Plans, Wastage Removal, technology upgrades. Sharing best practice of cost optimisation across the relevant stakeholders in the Group and collaborate with IT and Finance communities to influence cost saving initiatives.
  • Collaborating with other Cloud FinOps team members to lead cost forecasting across the Cloud estate considering proposed/planned changes, new workloads planned to be cloud hosted in the future and comparing Cloud costs across all cloud venues.
  • Collaborating with the Procurement team to report on enterprise level commitments vs consumption and future consumption across agreements such as AWS PPA and Microsoft EA. Working together with Supplier Governance team to track consumption vs commitment across agreements purchased via Market Place.
  • Alongside our Software Asset Management team, helping identify software renewals or new software procurement that could use a cloud-based Market Place to achieve a lower price point for the business and assist burn down enterprise level commitments.
  • Collaborating with the engineering teams on the policies and guardrails to ensure business is empowered to achieve its objectives with appropriate governance in place to maintain enterprise standards.
  • Ensuring digital products and journeys do not exploit consumer biases and are constructed in a way that enables the clear presentation of key information, including the use of layering to enable customers to find other relevant information and reinforce key messaging.

Qualifications

Who we're looking for:

  • A curious, data driven and analytical mindset.
  • Ability to communicate technical information in a clear and understandable way to all stakeholders.
  • Excellent customer centric communication and interpersonal skills
  • Some knowledge and experience with AWS and Azure technologies.
  • Sense of ownership to follow tasks through to completion.
  • Collaborative and continuous improvement mindset; knowledge share, ability to positively influence the team
  • Preferable to have experience of Cloud management tools such as Apptio Cloudability, AWS cost explorer, Azure Cost Management.
  • Previous experience in technology and/or finance or data analytics
  • Self-starter, candidate must be comfortable creating new processes
