Laboratory and Horticultural Technician (Maternity Cover-12 months)

Stockbridge Technology Centre (STC) is looking for an innovative individual to provide maternity cover within a small hard-working team carrying out and reporting on a broad range of agricultural and horticultural trials, both laboratory and glasshouse-based.

STC is an applied research and development organisation with excellent facilities comprising 3 hectares of secure glasshouses, LED facility and vertical farm production unit, a wide range of poly-tunnels and 70 hectares of grade 2 land for outdoor trials and demonstration purposes. With Official Recognition and GLP compliance, STC offers a wide range of expertise to help improve the sustainability, efficiency and productivity of the UK agriculture, horticulture and pharmaceutical industries.


Candidates will be qualified to degree or HND level in agriculture/horticulture/plant science. Laboratory experience would be extremely beneficial together with experience of plant pathology and research trials. STC runs a Laboratory on site which investigates potential disease issues for the industry. The individual will need to be highly motivated with excellent communications skills and be able to work autonomously or as part of a team. Computer literacy is essential, along with data handling skills and the ability to write comprehensive reports.


The position is based on site and is negotiable on full time or part-time basis as a 12 month contract for maternity cover. There is potential to move to a permanent role for the right individual.
