Job Title: Junior Designer – Textiles, Soft Furnishings, and Fashion 

Location: HYBRID Ditchling 

Department: Design 

Reports To: Designer 

Employment Type: Part time - 09:00 to 17:00 (1-hour unpaid break) Monday to Thursday 

Salary: Starting at £17,600 per annum (£22,000 pro-rata'd). Salary TBC dependent on experience. Please enquire for more details.

We are seeking a passionate and creative Junior Designer to join our team and contribute to our growing portfolio. 


Job Summary:  

As a Junior Designer, you will play a key role in supporting the design and development of our textile, soft furnishing, and fashion products. You will work closely with the Designer and the wider design team to bring fresh ideas to life, ensuring that our products reflect the brand's vision and meet market demands. We are keen to find the right person for this role and welcome applications from different design fields (home, soft furnishings, fashion, textile, print, graphic) and an individual who is driven with a want to learn and progress.  



Key Responsibilities:  


  • Assist in creating and developing designs for textiles, soft furnishings, and fashion items. 
  • Compile accurate and detailed print and product tech packs 
  • Collaborate with the design team to brainstorm and develop innovative concepts that align with the brand’s aesthetic. From initial concept and colour through to sampling 
  • Assist in ensuring that all patterns are accurate and ready for production. 
  • Contribute to the design of soft furnishings such as cushions, throws, curtains, and other home accessories. 
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including production, marketing, and sales to ensure seamless project execution. 
  • Communicate effectively with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure that designs are produced to the highest standards. 
  • Stay updated on current trends in textiles, fashion, and home décor. 
  • Maintain organised records of all design work, materials, and communications. 
  • Participate in design reviews and take feedback on board to refine and improve designs. 
  • Continuously seek ways to enhance design processes and product quality. 


Qualifications:  


  • A degree or diploma in Textile Design, Fashion Design, or a related design-based field. 
  • Strong creative skills with a passion for textiles, fashion, and interior design. 
  • Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign). 
  • Basic knowledge of textile production, pattern making, and garment construction. 
  • Strong attention to detail and an eye for colour, texture, and pattern. 
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills. 
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. 
  • A portfolio showcasing relevant design work. 
  • An ability to hand draw/paint would be ideal 
  • 2 years' experience minimum
