Wilsons Carpets are looking for a Transport Planner at Unit 7, Houndhill Park, Bolton Road, Wath Upon Dearne, Rotherham, S63 7LG.

45 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Role Profile Summary

Key Responsibilities and duties

Responsibilities

• Responsible for scheduling multi drop routes for Approx 40 company vehicles ensuring planning rules/guidelines are adhered to daily.
• Examine and analyse travel data and the impact any changes may have on planned routes
• Liaise with other departments to ensure a timely transition of the product from the warehouse to the vehicles.
• Analyse customer demand and assign the most optimal route to deliver product to customers.
• Managing transportation costs and vehicle utilisation through scheduling of internal and external vehicles
• Evaluating the benefits and costs of different supply routes
• Staying up to date with current fleet inventory and deploying efficiently and effectively
• Have a good degree of computer literacy, as well as the ability to analyse data, along with the initiative to act accordingly.

Duties

• Communicating with drivers daily and holding driver debriefs, ensuring that all paperwork has been completed.
• Plan all delivery routes on a daily basis with different criteria.
• Upload tracking information daily.
• Input efficiency data onto spreadsheets
• Complete daily debriefs with drivers and analyse any failed deliveries.
• Liaison and relationship management with internal and external transport providers
• Forming potential solutions to transport problems

What we’re looking for

• At least 1 year of experience in planning
• Good knowledge of legislation in the transport industry
• Excellent organisation skills and attention to detail
• Strong written and oral communication skills are important
• Strong analytical skills and numerate ability are essential
• IT literate with spreadsheet experience
• Regularly monitor and analyse transport costs and volume
• Provide a supportive service for customers
• Work experience gained as a vehicle planner is essential
• Strong knowledge and awareness of UK geography is essential
• Experience gained with a vehicle routing system is essential
