Job Purpose: As H&S Officer you have ownership of our company H&S compliance. You’re responsible for promoting understanding of our company objectives for H&S aspects; providing input for the continuous improvement of all H&S strategies.


As part of your role, you will also be expected to work with our Mobilisation and Project Manager and provide all aspects of project support to drive forward our business improvement projects. You will also ensure H&S and maintenance compliance at our Head Office.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain and continuously improve H&S strategies, policies, procedures, risk assessments and safe working practices in accordance with the relevant legislation and standards
  • Support internal audits of the integrated management system (ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001)
  • Interface with key internal and external stakeholders including contractors, regulators, enforcement agencies and suppliers when necessary.
  • Monitor emerging health and safety and sustainability related legal compliance as well as Government and industry best practice.
  • Apply knowledge and drive best practice to meet Health & Safety standards.
  • Ensure the Company’s H&S policies and procedures are updated and relevant to current legislation.
  • Develop, maintain, and review COSHH documentation as required.
  • Manage the H&S aspects of keeping our Head Office maintained including emergency procedures and first aid requirements.
  • Work closely with the Quality, Sustainability & Environment Manager to promote understanding of company objectives for Environmental and Health and Safety aspects and promote a culture of participation in their achievement across the company.
  • Identify H&S training requirements. Develop, maintain and deliver training to key internal stakeholders and document accordingly.
  • Manage the recording and monitoring of all ‘near-miss’ and ‘accident’ reports, and any follow up investigations that are required and preventative measures are put in place.
  • Carry out investigations to identify the root cause of an incident or other unsafe conditions on a work site
  • Manage personal and public liability claims, following up with insurers and driving the company campaign for all incidents to be reported.


Qualifications & Experience

  • 3-5 years practical Health & Safety experience
  • Proficient IT skills
  • Experience leading projects
  • Experienced at completing risk assessments, training and health and safety audits
  • NEBOSH certificate or currently working towards it.
  • Qualification in risk management, safety management, or a related discipline is preferable.
