Staveleigh Medical Centre is a high achieving GP surgery based in the heart of Stalybridge Cheshire. We have a fantastic opportunity for a motivated, organised & efficient team player to join our dynamic team of patient advisors managing reception. The positions will initially be covering maternity leave for 12 months with the view for possible extension to permanent contract.

Main duties of the job

First impressions are key! Nobody likes having to call or visit the doctors and your job will be to ensure your first impression to patients to welcoming helpful and making their experience comfortable. Duties will include leading on our reception desk and answering incoming calls, as well as assisting our medical, admin and data quality staff with tasks.

You will assist pateints with booking appointments, processing prescriptions, registering new pateitns and answering queries.

Job responsibilities

You will be responsible for all reception duties including:

  • Serving patients by greeting and helping them, scheduling appointment and maintaining records.
  • Welcoming patients and visitors in person or on the telephone, and answering or referring inquiries.
  • Optimizing patients’ satisfaction by upholding our values.
  • Comforting patients by anticipating patients’ anxieties, answering questions and maintaining a calm reception area.
  • Assisting patients to complete new registration documents and updating personal details when required.
  • Protecting patients’ rights by maintaining confidentiality of medical and personal information.
  • Maintaining operations by following policies and procedures, reporting needed changes.
  • Contributing to team effort by accomplishing related results needed.

  • Ability to conduct and keep track of multiple tasks.
  • Flexibility and a willingness to learn new approaches and adapt to changes.
  • Excellent telephone skills and verbal communication.
  • Above and beyond customer service skills.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy and efficient working combined with an advanced written communication ability.
  • Professionalism and integrity.
  • Comprehensive IT skills (including use of Microsoft Office packages). Previous experience of a medical system (such as SystmOne) would be advantageous.
  • A willingness to contribute and suggest innovative ideas about best practice and new ways of working.

Job Types : Part-time, Fixed term contract Contract length: 12 months Part-time hours: 30 per week

Salary : £9.90-£10.90 per hour
