We are planning for future flood scenarios including a 4 degree rise in global temperature and are working with government, local councils, businesses, civil society groups and communities to make our environment a better place for people and wildlife. - This hands -on role involves: - Working together as a team and being outside in all weathers ; - Using a variety of tools and equipment to carry out tasks such as small projects and operations of various equipment - Providing response to flood and environmental incidents inside and outside of normal working hours by participating, training and exercising. Deploying sandbags temporary barriers, mobile pumps and pollution equipment; - Producing dynamic risk management and unplanned risk management documentation; - Carrying out regular checks and inspections of equipment ,including tools ,protective personal equipment, vehicles and plant; - Communicating with customers, land owners, partners, members of the public and colleagues. The team - Our field teams protect people and the environment by maintaining and operating our flood and coastal risk management assets and responding to incidents. - Field teams have a range of technical skills they use to deliver watercourse maintenance, along with asset maintenance and construction projects. The team handle a variety of specialist equipment including plant and boats. They support the prevention or mitigation of incidents day and night. Experience/skills required - You should have the necessary practical ability and an understanding in environmental awareness as well as a hands on approach. - Some experience in asset operation or maintenance /incident response /use of equipment/tools is an advantage (however full training will be given) - .You will be trained and supported to contribute to our response to incidents inside and outside working hours; - An understanding of site health and safety requirements would be advantageous; - literacy and numeracy skills are required; - Have the ability to carry out tasks and answer queries effectively; - Competent in using IT devices, such as iPads and willing to learn in house systems; - Undertake specialist training when required.
