About the Role The London Borough of Sutton is committed to providing their Looked After Children with high quality and consistent contact. In order to achieve this we are recruiting sessional contact supervisors who will be based at Sutton Family Centre, where they will be part of a multi-disciplinary team, that provide a wide range of services for young children and their families.We are looking for a Sessional Contact Workers, to superivise contact between children and their Families, who are involved with our service. This post will be based at Sutton Family Centre and will be responsible for the co ordination of contact sessions, recording of these sessions and providing parenting feedback. To that end you will provide a formal supervised contact service that will oversee contact and work alone side social workers to contribute towards parenting assessments.Contact Supervisors need apply the principles of restorative practice within their work with children and families.This will involve working directly with children and families.Primarily needed for after school sessions: Weekdays between 3:30pm-5:30pm, some sessions 9am-12 & 1pm-3.30pm, School holidays and sometimes Saturday Mornings. About Us This post will be based within our Court Proceedings and Adoption Service and you will deliver a critical front facing service that supports the effective delivery of the right services at the right time for our children, young people and their families. You will recieve training, support and regualr supervision and work within a supportive team. About You As a contact supervisor you will be responsible for supervising and supporting direct contact between children, their parents/carers and extended family members, ensuring the needs of the child are met and that the contact is a safe and positive experience for the child and its family. You will also have the opportunity to assist parents develop their parenting skills within the realms of contact.You will need to have experience of working directly with children and parents, have the ability to implement contact plans, have effective communication skills and be able to work within the child protection framework. You will be directly observing contact between children and their families and must be able to record that session Contact to a high standard. Contact sessions can take place at different venues in the borough and in the community and therefore there is an expectation of some travel.
