Job overview West Sussex Integrated Sexual Health Service is looking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic full time Band 6 Senior Sexual Health Nurse to work with our dynamic team in Worthing.The post holder will be based in the integrated sexual health clinic at Chichester. They should be an experienced nurse in GUM and Contraception, LoC certificate for insertion and removal of subdermal contraceptive implants is required for the position. Candidates without the qualification will need to commit to undertake training towards the certificate. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to develop their skills in sexual health and contraception whilst running nurse led clinics. Main duties of the job The post holder will be guided by the Team Manager in working on the continued development of the Integrated Sexual Health Service (ISHS) within the locality (hub and spokes).As part of the wider ISHS team they work towards ensuring service provision meets the Key Performance Targets and professionally recognised standards and services in line with National and local strategy, the Department of Health ’15 Steps’ quality criteria and supports Patient First, a trust-wide approach to improving the quality of care offered to patients. The post holder follows national and local policy. They will liaise with a number of partnership agencies and practitioners, particularly those working with under 18 clients. The post holder will demonstrate specialist knowledge in the assessment, development, care, delivery and evaluation of programmes of care for clients of all ages, often working in settings which are nurse only delivered. They will also share specialist knowledge and skills with all staff within the ISHS and those services being supported by the service.In the absence of the Team Manager the post holder will provide line management, support and advice as necessary to the Band 5, Band 3 and 2 nursing and support staff working within these areas. The post holder is a member of the multi-disciplinary team. This includes medical, nursing, health advising, administration and management staff. Networking with relevant agencies such as those targeting hard to reach groups, e.g. Children Looked After (CLA), excluded pupils, asylum seekers, specific learning needs etc; as well as other health care service staff is required to promote partnership working, education and health promotion. Person specification Registration Essential criteria NMC Registered Adult Nurse (General), Associate member or Diplomate of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health Care Qualifications Essential criteria Recognised qualification or equivalent experience working at Band 5 level minimum in areas of relevance. E.g. GUM, HIV Study at degree level or equivalent level of knowledge Nationally recognised approved CASH qualification e.g. NDFRSH; NA 298/NA394/NA6138; ENB 90/900/R71 Letter of Competence for Sub Dermal Implants insertion and removal (or working towards) Recognised post basic qualification in teaching and assessing/Mentorship Desirable criteria Intermediate STIF Competencies Certificate in Management Skills Essential criteria Highly developed skill demonstrating dexterity and precision for insertion of implants. Good range of skills developed through practice which ensures accuracy e.g. venepuncture, POCT, wart treatment, use of a microscope. Able to complete patient assessment and advise on an appropriate range of options.
