Organisation Overview:

Capture Minds CIC is a non-profit organisation dedicated to unlocking the potential of young minds through comprehensive mentorship and educational support programs. Our flagship initiative, Futures Unlocked, empowers Sixth Form students by guiding them towards higher education and career success, fostering both academic and personal growth.


Role Overview:

As a Volunteer Educational Mentor, you will play a crucial role in delivering the Futures Unlocked program under the guidance of the Lead Teacher. You will conduct 1-3 one-hour mentoring sessions weekly, starting in September, focusing on enhancing the academic and personal development of students.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Lead Teacher in planning and delivering engaging educational sessions.
  • Provide support and mentorship to Sixth Form students in areas such as UCAS preparation, career exploration, and personal development.
  • Facilitate group discussions and activities to ensure active participation and engagement from all students.
  • Offer constructive feedback to the Lead Teacher to improve the effectiveness of sessions.
  • Participate in training and development sessions provided by Capture Minds CIC to enhance your mentoring abilities.


Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in undergraduate studies, preferably in education, but any undergraduate degree will be accepted.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A commitment to positively impacting young people’s educational and personal development.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Previous mentoring or tutoring experience is advantageous but not required.


Training and Support:

  • Volunteers will receive extensive training before the start of the program and ongoing support throughout their placement, ensuring they are well-equipped to effectively mentor and support students.
