About the RoleThe Deputy Institute Manager will work with the Institute Manager to ensure the efficient management of the Institute. They will be responsible for HR processes in the Institute and will also lead on the Health and Safety requirements in the office areas. The successful candidate will line manage the centre managers and will work closely with the rest of the Director’s office team. About the Faculty/Institute The Blizard Institute was established in 2003 and is one of six Institutes within the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, QMUL. The Institute comprises approximately 370 staff based in four academic Centres and one Public Engagement Centre and supports a combined total of c700 postgraduate research and taught students. The Institute aims to deliver excellence in all aspects of research, teaching and clinical service. About You The candidate must have significant equivalent experience in Higher Education management, experience of line management, experience of financial management and budgeting, and familiarity with HR and recruitment issues. The candidate needs to have good analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently. The post is based at the Whitechapel Campus in London. It is a full time (35 hours per week) permanent appointment, with an expected start date of August 2024. The starting salary will be Grade 6, in the range of £52,549-£58,595 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
