SEN Teaching Assistant (Full-Time) – Personal Care Support Location:  Formby (L37) Salary: £12.90-13.50 per hour Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent Start Date: 16.9.24 Key Responsibilities: Provide 1:1 support for a child with specific needs, ensuring their well-being and active participation in all aspects of school life. Assist with personal care tasks, including toileting, dressing, and hygiene, while maintaining the child’s dignity and comfort. Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals to deliver tailored support that meets the child’s individual learning and developmental needs. Implement specific strategies and interventions to help the child engage with learning and social activities. Monitor the child’s progress and provide feedback to relevant staff and parents/carers. Foster a safe and inclusive environment where the child feels valued, confident, and supported. Assist with general classroom duties and contribute to the smooth running of daily activities. Essential Requirements: Previous experience working with children with SEN, including providing personal care support. A caring and patient approach, with a strong commitment to supporting children’s well-being and development. Understanding of safeguarding practices and how to maintain a child’s dignity and respect while providing personal care. Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals. A proactive attitude, with the flexibility to adapt to the child’s evolving needs. Desirable: Relevant qualifications in supporting teaching and learning or health and social care. Experience in working with children who have physical disabilities or complex medical needs. Training in areas such as Manual Handling or First Aid.
