Purpose of the role: Supervise a low to medium volume, high mix metalwork production area comprising of CNC Punch, CNC Bend, Weld, Studding, Powder Coat, Laser Etch and Final Assembly. To ensure the metalwork department produces sub-assemblies and finished products on time to specification in order to meet the Production plan. To maintain the Production plan so that the Production Manager and others have a ‘real’ time view of the status of all jobs in the area. To implement and manage production KPIs. To implement and maintain 5S, TPM and drive continuous process improvements. Safety adherence and people management. Key responsibilities Operational target delivery Safety, Quality & Process management Update Production Manager on output vs target and build status. Implement and manage skills matrix to ensure multi-skilling of the workforce. First line people management and enforcement of HR processes including return to work interviews, first line disciplinary, 1-2-1s, appraisal and setting of objectives for staff Skills At least 2-3 years’ experience of working as a supervisor, preferably in a manufacturing environment but not essential. Proven supervisor of people / people management skills Significant interpersonal skills Previous experience of implementing and working within a lean environment 5S, TPM, Single Piece Flow Previous Experience of working in a metal fabrication environment Good planning skills / familiarity with production process flow and value engineering.
