Medical Secretary/administrator/scanner & Coder

The following are the core responsibilities of the Medical Secretary, Administrator, Scanner and Coder. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other duties; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels: The duties are detailed below: Undertaking patient referrals following the appropriate referral pathway using the electronic referral system (ESR). Checking secretarial workflow. Completing and monitoring referral spreadsheets including the 2 week wait referrals.

Booking patients appointments as necessary. Dealing with medical record requests. Processing requests for information i.e SAR, Insurance/Solicitors letters and DVLA forms. Photocopy documentation as required.

Undertaking clinical and non-clinical audit as required. Adding and developing appropriate templates. Archive tasks. Summarising patients medical records.

Undertaking searches as required. Set up reports in EMIS. Set up Protocols. Monitoring EMIS DTS.
