Financial Reporting Manager You will be responsible for the accounting and reporting of one of the UK’s newest FinTech lenders. Our new Financial Reporting Manager enters at an incredible time for the business; we have our FCA license, a fully functioning app and with funding secured,a compelling and realistic plan of action. The founding team is in place. But with so many Tetris bricks falling, we need the help of a digitally savvy, nimble and outrageously organised Financial Reporting Manager (FRM) to keep us in shape and our plans on track. You will play a crucial role forus by ensuring finance can support the ambitious roadmap and keeping us ahead of the competition and on top of best practices. The FRM will have the opportunity to make a discernible impact for a young, evolving and exciting new brand. We are on a quest to be the world’s most proactive bank. Starting out with a debit account and credit card,we are broadening our portfolio and setting the foundations in place for a positive, supportive and thoughtful new bank. We are launching with a fully functional offering and exciting forecasts. Our product is developing with incredible pace; we are now atthe point where we must backfill the missing processes and functions that we overlooked in the drive to launch. This hire is a key one for us. A strong finance team is essential in achieving our business goals and you will be a crucial part of the team. This is a multifaceted role; you will have both an eye for detail and be business-minded. As the business expandsfurther, your role may morph, but there is enough to keep you busy for now! Our finance team is based in London and you will be joining as we grow the team and talent base. Responsibilities of the Financial Reporting Manager - Oversee accounting across the Group, ensuring adherence to appropriate accounting standards and policy. - Production of the Group’s annual report and financial statements. - Drive the audits for the Group including SPVs and consolidation of subsidiaries. - Preparation of month-end flash reporting and management accounts including associated reconciliations. - Prepare technical papers for Executive Committee & Board on material accounting judgements and the impact of accounting policy changes. - Develop and review accounting for new products and implement accounting processes where required. - Continued development and oversight of internal controls across Finance. - Develop and maintain Finance policies and procedures. - Support implementation of technical accounting areas such as EIR, hedge accounting & IFRS 9. - Support implementation of product control reporting. - Oversight of FCA (financial) reporting requirements. - Preparation and submission of HMRC returns. - Support implementation of finance systems, including a new general ledger system. - Maintain up-to-date knowledge of financial and accounting regulations to ensure they are applied consistently and accurately. Requirements of the Financial Reporting Manager - Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) with at least 5 years of PQE. - Recent experience in Banking or relevant Financial Services. - Ability to build scalable processes from scratch. - Previous experience of producing statutory accounts and disclosures for banks. - You can work in an environment with a high level of ambiguity. - Robust financial accounting skills including the ability to analyse, interpret and communicate variances. - Knowledge and understanding of financial systems and procedures including the ability to extract and manipulate data. - Advanced excel skills - whilst we aim to use appropriate tech, inevitably there will be times we just turn to excel! Bonus skills - Experience in a rapid growth environment / experience in a start-up. - Finance system development & ownership. - Commercially minded, able to create simple business cases. - Ability to navigate and perform ad-hoc queries in AWS Athena / knowledge of SQL. A little about you - You are curious by nature and like to delve into technical details and processes to understand and efficiently solve the problems and challenges our customers and stakeholders face. - Excellent communication skills, with the ability to relay often complex technical information clearly, tactfully and concisely in both written and verbal communications. - Self-motivated, can be relied upon to follow up questions and outstanding actions, and to drive projects to completion according to requirements and schedules. - Educated to degree level or possess relevant industry experience.
