Touchlight Genetics is looking for a skilled and determined Cell & Molecular Biologist to join our Research and Development team.


Leveraging their mammalian cell biology expertise , the successful applicant will work as part of intra- and inter-departmental teams to design, develop and test novel technologies and associated analytical platforms for therapeutics based on Touchlight’s proprietary DNA technologies.


The role will require the applicant’s excellent analytical skills and creative input for the design and improvement of our platforms, as well as the molecular and ex vivo cell-based laboratory skills necessary to demonstrate their therapeutic potential.


Key responsibilities:


  • Work within a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced laboratory environment, to drive forward Touchlight’s new DNA technologies
  • Maintain and continuously develop R&D cell assays/platforms to support the characterisation and advancement of Touchlight’s DNA technologies
  • Work on optimising the performance of our genetic platforms through molecular and cell culture improvements
  • Test, validate and enhance Touchlight’s new & emerging platforms in clinically relevant cell types
  • Characterise the biological responses to our proprietary DNA molecules in primary cells
  • Accurately record, analyse, and communicate experimental findings in electronic laboratory notebooks and presentations


You have:


  • A PhD qualification and/or equivalent relevant industry experience within the Life Science sector An agile and strongly analytical mindset.
  • You are collaborative and highly adaptable , and eager to research and discuss novel scientific ideas and solutions
  • Exceptional attention to deta i l and meticulous organisational skills
  • Strong experience with culturing challenging mammalian cell types , preferably immune cells like primary human T cells , to include: Cell isolation, culture and expansion (standard vessels or G-Rex)
  • Demonstrated knowledgein mammalian cell manipulation and analysis techniques, to include: Chemical transfection and electroporation; Immunostaining, flow cytometry, and associated data analysis; Genomic DNA extraction and sample preparation for qPCR/dPCR/NGS assays or similar
  • Experience with DNA manipulation and analysis via PCR, gel electrophoresis


Strongly preferred:

  • Proven hands-on ability in solving molecular biology problems
  • Knowledge of a wide range of techniques for DNA assembly , preferably including InFusion and Golden Gate cloning
  • Familiarity and preferably hands-on experience with genome engineering approaches such as CRISPR
