Job Reference: KW/AB/0822 Job purpose: To assist with a variety of tasks which will assist the person who needs care and support to live their personal and social life according to their wishes and interests.

This role may involve overnight support. Main duties: A Personal Assistant is required to work alongside team members to develop personalised support, undertake driving and cleaning duties, as well as building positive relationships with the client, (female) their family, to ensure the supported individuals life goals and aspirations are at the centre of their support. Any experience of working within a social care setting is desirable but not essential as we are seeking to appoint a staff member who share our values and have an interest in building safe and respectful relationships. Training and support will be provided by an experienced member of the team during a transition period.

On a day-to-day basis, the Personal Assistant will enable the individual to take part in their chosen activities, maintain their dignity and support them to make informed choices that matter. The support required may include prompting personal care, promoting independence and active citizenship and support with household chores etc. You can also expect to be out and about supporting the client to access and engage in community activities and taking part in gym sessions that they enjoy.

Hours of work: 14 hours per week Rate of pay: £10.50 per hour

Skills, qualifications, and experience

Essential :

  • driving licence
  • car and appropriate insurance
  • knowledge & experience of Autism or Neurodiversity
  • able to swim
  • confidentiality
  • good at building relationships

Preferred :

  • computer literate
  • good communicator
  • a good listener
  • ability to support people with complex needs.

Successful applicants will require DBS checks & Employment References.

This role is funded by the Local Authority and is paid 4 weekly.
