Barista/bar Staff

  • Stalybridge
  • Gladstone Barber E Bistro

We are an independent, licensed bistro in the heart of Stalybridge. Our offering includes specialty coffee, cakes, fresh food cooked to order and a selection of alcoholic drinks including wine, beer and cocktails.

We are here to change the perception of food and drink in our local area and to create a space in which people are inspired to push their own personal boundaries and experience flavours for the first time.

Our aim has always been to create an environment in which both our guests and our employees can live in perfect harmony. A level playing field with no ego’s and no hierarchy, just hard working, like-minded individuals that are striving to unearth the very best version of themselves.

  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to customers
  • Take customer orders and provide recommendations on drink selections
  • Maintain a clean and organized bar area
  • Check identification of customers to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol
  • Adhere to all food safety and sanitation regulations
  • Provide excellent customer service and address customer concerns or complaints
  • Handle cash transactions and operate the cash register
  • Restock bar inventory and ensure adequate supplies are available
  • Collaborate with other staff members to ensure smooth operation of the bar

  • Previous experience in bartending or working in a hospitality setting is preferred
  • Basic knowledge of wine/beer and classic cocktails
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Basic math skills for handling cash transactions and calculating drink prices

We are huge advocates of a fair work-life balance and will always ensure you have time away from the bistro to flourish in your personal lives, as you will do at work.

Being a small outfit, this job role comes with a lot of responsibility. The work is fast paced, high pressured and challenging at times but we believe this is what separates the good from the great.

In this role you will be responsible for serving all drinks to spec. We are looking for someone to join the team with real bar experience and classic cocktail knowledge. In addition, we are looking for someone with a keen interest in wine and can confidently make recommendations based on food pairings.

Although this position is focused mainly behind the bar, we are a small outfit so the role is varied. There may be occasions where you are expected to work on the floor serving food, taking orders and pouring wine but again, extensive training will be provided.

Coffee experience is desired but not neccessary as we have a comprehensive coffee training schedule that all new starters undergo.
