Job overview An exciting opportunity has arisen to come and work at Dorset County Hospital to join our supportive speech and language therapy teamWe are seeking a motivated, and enthusiastic B6 Speech and Language Therapist wishing to develop their skills in ENT, Head and Neck and cancer. We will also consider applicants who are looking for a B5 developing B6 opportunity within this specialty.Not only will you be part of our dynamic Speech and Language Therapy Team you will also benefit from having a role within the much acclaimed Macmillan Cancer Therapy Team assessing and treating people with communication and swallowing difficulties pre and post cancer treatment.In this rewarding, specialist role you will gain experience in managing a wide range of ENT and head and neck cancer and develop skills with laryngectomees, including Surgical Voice Restoration.We will provide you with access to peer support, regular 1:1 meetings with the clinical lead speech and language therapist, appraisals and clinical supervision. We will actively encourage CPD, attendance at the Head & Neck CEN, and training opportunities including developing instrumental assessment skills in videofluoroscopy and FEES as appropriate Main duties of the job To work as a member of the Speech and Language Therapy Team providing diagnosis, assessment, treatment and management to patients with voice and/or swallowing problems secondary to an ENT diagnosis both within an inpatient and outpatient settingTo work as a member of the Macmillan Cancer Therapy Team providing diagnosis, assessment, treatment and management to patients with communication and/or swallowing problems secondary to a cancer diagnosis for inpatients at Dorset County Hospital. To work with the Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist leading on Speech and Language Therapy specialist provision to patients at Dorset County Hospital referred with ENT/Head and Neck voice, speech and swallowing disorders.In conjunction with the team, develop and participate in training programmes across acute and community MDT’s.
