This will be a very supporting role, where you will be playing a fundamental part in ensuring a smooth patient journey by following your patients pathway and monitoring their recovery after procedure. In this position you the Recovery Healthcare Assistant will be working with your patient, supporting both pre and post procedure. You will be working 3 days per week; days will be variable from week to week The shifts will be from 07:00 to 16:30 Main duties of the job As one of our Recovery Healthcare Assistants, youll play a very involved patient supportive role. You will be ensuring a patients fitness ready for surgery, through effective questioning and cross referencing of the Patient Pathway, raising any doubt to the Recovery Department manager for review. Youll be assisting members of the theatre team by making sure your patient is physically and mentally prepared and ready for the treatment to take place, box ticking particulars such as nil by mouth period adhered to and required pre operation medication taken within the set time periods, etc. You will be expected to have gained up to date knowledge of your patient, by investigating the patent pathway, it will then be your responsibility of adding to and following that patents pathway, ensuring particulars such as; consent obtained before any treatment is carried out. Recovery monitoring will be a part of this position. Post treatment or operation, you will be required to monitor your patient, checking vital signs and their particular awareness when patent is coming round. How is their speech? How comfortable are they feeling? Are they able to drink yet? If not how long until? Are they hungry? How much can they eat and are they able to digest anything easily? Youll be in regular communication with Theatre staff, Consultants, Nurses and other administration staff, and will look to keep the patient updated and well informed. About us This Recovery Healthcare Assistants position would be ideal for those who have performed the same / similar role in the past managing and ensuring a patients pathway and the comfortability of a patient pre- and post-surgical treatment. Youll be welcoming, informative and accommodating, adaptable as sometimes you might be having to support a potentially worried and uneasy patient. You will be an effective communicator at all levels both written and verbal with strong IT skills, able to pick up new systems easily. You will be competent working with personal information and sensitive data and very familiar working within GDPR regulations.
