Portsmouth Homeless Family Service is based across three residential Lifehouse's, accommodating a total of 45 homeless, vulnerable families (which included couples, single parents and pregnant mothers) with support needs. We also support 32 families living in Local Authority Sublet tenancies and a further 14 families living in other housing. We have an exciting opportunity for a committed and dynamic individual to join us as an Administrator.

The role of Administrator will ensure the service administrative functions are running efficiently to provide a positive environment for the clients to achieve their goals and the service to report accurately and in a timely manner to all stakeholders both internal and external.

Key Responsibilities : The overall purpose of the Administrator post within a service is to ensure that all administration functions are completed to high standard. This will include monitoring budgets, ensuring wages are paid accurately to staff within the service and staff records are kept up to date and accurate. The duties of this post are important to the successful operation of the service.

  • Proven good experience of working successfully in a similar administrative job role within a busy work environment (A,I)
  • Demonstrable ability to manage finance processes, cash handling and recording financial data accurately using spreadsheets and/or an accounting system (A,I)
  • Demonstrable good communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey information to a wide range of stakeholders in a clear, effective and professional manner (A,I)
  • Demonstrable ability to plan, organise and prioritise your tasks to effectively meet your objectives to the expected quality standards and time scales with mínimal supervision (A,I)
  • High standard of literacy in English and numeracy at the level required to fulfil your duties (A,I)
  • Proven good experience of using Microsoft Office (Word/Excel), Outlook, Teams and databases to perform your work duties (A,I,T)
  • The ability and willingness to work within, be empathic with and promote the Christian ethos and values of The Salvation Army Mission (A,I)
